Donna Karan

Donna Karan was born 1949, in Queens, New York. With a model for a mother and a tailor for a father, fashion was in the blood from an early age. She began by designing for Anne Klein but retired from that in 1985 to start her own label which specialised in elastic bodices. More recently she created a line called 'Essentials' and then 'DKNY' in 1988 which has become the pillar of Donna's success. She design's clothing not with size 0 models in mind, but with the 'real' woman.
