What to wear for your Mykonos Break

What should you wear while you’re soaking up the sun in the Cyclades, basking in the Greek sunshine? We ask six top fashion bloggers why they wore what they wore on a recent trip to Mykonos and we got some wonderful suggestions – including a floral printed short sleeved-shirt, a silk dress by Danish brand Hofmann Copenhagen and a linen double breasted blazer for that touch of evening style. Take some inspiration for your next trip to the sunshine.

‘I feel my style has always been quite diverse and I tend to like playing around with textures, colours and my accessories while still being comfortable and confident to go about my day. At the moment, I'm a big fan of looks that are clean and sharp but with a bit of an edge. So think street style but something cleaner.'

'I am currently obsessed with casual short sleeves-shirts, hence the ones I picked for this trip is a simple one from Ami and a flower printed one from Saint Laurent. Moreover, I am all about accessories and I'm almost never without my signature fedora hat. To start the day with a morning look in the old town, I decided to style the Ami shirt with some leather suspenders and a tee underneath with some tailored trousers and sneakers.'

'For the afternoon, as it gets warmer I wore the Saint Laurent shirt with some tinted sunglasses and converse high tops. We spent the afternoon in Mykonos chilling by the beach drinking cocktails and listening to music. Mykonos is so beautiful and such a great holiday destination. As it gets chilly in the evening by the Aegean Sea, I decided to suit myself up for dinner as nothing can go wrong with a good classic navy suit and what better way than to go to dinner than in a boat? Dinner was of course fabulous, and the team and I had a blast. There is no way to end a night in Mykonos without a party so that was exactly what we did.’

'Mykonos, is the place where relaxation meets luxury, I find off the shoulder tops, maxi dresses and loose trousers as the perfect match - and that goes for most sunny paradises.'

'An oversized gingham shirt knotted around my waist matched with my favourite sunglasses for the summer from Cutler and Gross, and a cute Chloé bag in a dark yellow to brighten up the outfit made me all ready to do some shopping in the old town.'

'For the beach attire, I went for an off the shoulder top and striped trousers with a big colourful beach bag to fit all my bits and bobs for a few, or many hours of snoozing in the sun.'

'As for the boat ride to our secret hidden beach, a snake skinned swimsuit with edgy side-cut-outs was toned down with a pair of culottes, shades and saltwater beach hair. I normally go for a more casual look, dressed slightly down but with all eyes on the details and accessories. With some salt water in the hair and ready to get a tan on my skin, I went for a more natural look in the hair and makeup department.'

'All in all a casual but classic look, with my #TheOne key Farfetch pieces, perfect for a warm summer holiday destination.'

‘The belted waist detail adds a great silhouette for menswear, embracing the figure to give a Japanese style interpretation on the Kimono. As straps is a key trend this summer season, the tightened up look can either been double knotted, tied or hanging loose, giving a diverse style to wearing the Exinifintas Jacket.’

‘Crossing boundaries with the feminine tradition, men would often wear Kimonos at weddings and tea ceremonies. The style has got a more masculine approach with the oversized patchwork, volumized arms and military pockets. With the different T shape silhouette, and the longer lengths  on the jacket, the designer challenges and plays the idea on the oriental concept of the Japanese culture.’

‘The military green shade was perfect against the concrete khaki shades, cobbled stone walls and sandy beaches of Mykonos. Besides the traditional summer styling for beach destinations of whites and blues, I wanted a more earthy tone approachto the natural landscapes of the cliffs and trees of the island. The romantic Greek Island of Mykonos has the mostbeautiful golden sunsets, what better than to pair with bronze/beige items to compliment the environment.’

‘I'm Scandinavian with minimalism in my veins, however over the years I've widened the meaning of it and welcomed more feminine and romantic pieces into my wardrobe. I will always be a minimalist bohemian at heart so the optimal summer staples will forever be light floaty dresses with room for freedom and movement, I would never wear anything too formal, stiff or non-comfortable during the warmer months, and definitely not on holidays.'

'Though I swear to certain well known designer brands I also love coming across more unknown designers that has something extra to them. This silk dress is by Danish brand Hofmann Copenhagen, a brand that represent the perfect mix of feminine minimalism, a rather unusual combination in Scandinavia, but it's down to simplicity, little details and skilled tailoring. I've got this dress in other colours too, the pockets and knotted details in the back of the dress make it a timeless summer number, and what I call an investment piece.'

'I like to keep things simple but not afraid mixing it up with stronger pieces, these heeled sandals by Loewe and bag by Simon Miller add a tad of edge to the otherwise romantic dress moving from barefoot and carefree at daytime into the evening, still effortless, which to me it's all about!!’

‘I consider myself pretty low key when it comes to fashion and believe that a man will always stand out from a crowd dressing in sophisticated pieces that are simple yet stylish. Wearing a linen double breasted blazer, some tailored trousers and a pair of good suede loafers is always a great look.'

'However, when it comes to accessories, I think men should experiment and allow themselves a bit of eccentricity, adding some statement pieces to their wardrobe.'

'Following the recent runway trends, I decided to combine a bold camo backpack with classical summer essentials: a navy short, some low top white sneakers and a great pair of brown turtle shade sunglasses. Paired with a 70’S inspired kaki polo or a slogan tee shirt, I was ready to discover the beautiful island of Mykonos in style.’

‘I instantly fell for a silk / cotton Jacquemus wrap shirt, with a polkadot print and two large metallic buttons. I loved it for its updated take on the 80s shoulder pads, making it a shirt that makes a real statement.'

'Already being in love with Jacquemus’ take on minimalism, that never feels static or becomes boring, I fell for this collection even more after photographs from his exhibition “Marseille je t’aime” came out, which was such an interesting tribute to his origins. It’s a fantastically versatile piece that works for both night and day, which really spoke to me, but it has such a unique look that you’re sure to catch some comments along the way. I love how you can wear it all buttoned up for the more conservative 80’s look, or down for a laid-back Southern French chic look.'

'With the shirt being such a statement piece, I wanted to style it simply so it could be the centrepiece of my look. I paired it with black cropped trousers, and the most fantastic silver Isabel Marant heels I’ve been dancing around Mykonos and London in.’
