Author, face of Céline SS15 and one-time Vogue editor; Joan Didion is undoubtedly a style icon, both in the literary and sartorial senses of the word. Her way of dressing – effortlessly cool, simple and quietly glamorous – is as pure as her artfully stripped-back prose.
But why the renewed buzz? She’s the subject of a Kickstarter campaign-funded documentary, Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold, made by her nephew, the actor Griffin Dunne together with the documentarian Susanne Rostock. The film, which airs on Netflix this Friday has been 3 years in the making and chronicles Didion’s life and work, from her California childhood to her inspiring career, which started at US Vogue back in the fifties.
