The brand is reviving one of its earliest hit collections - and if it’s good enough for Marilyn Monroe it’s good enough for us...
WORDS BY AMELIA BELL
Think Emilio Pucci and you think flashy, psychedelic prints. It’s a no-brainer. But once upon a time, it was simple, monochromatic pieces that formed the synthesis of the Pucci name, fuelled by the designer’s fascination with colour. And the label’s just-launched, extra special capsule Monochromes (no, it doesn’t always mean black and white) is based on these bestsellers from the early days of Emilio.
What’s even more exciting? One Marilyn Monroe was known to own a vast collection of the Marchese’s monochrome pieces back in the day – the icon being famously photographed in an attention-grabbing green dress from the range. So now we can shop the modern version of a bonafide style icon’s favourite pieces. Hurrah!
Based around everyday staples – and just landed at Farfetch - the capsule celebrates the foundations upon which Mr Pucci built his fashion house: colour (from Geranio, Turchese and Arancio) - the intrinsic force and artistic element behind all his creations, and nature - one of his greatest inspirations of all.
