Menswear label Folk was conceived in 2001 by designer Cathal McAteer as an attempt to create clothing that his friends would like to wear. Avoiding seasonal trends, the Folk ethos is based on creating simple wardrobe staples with a focus on hand-craft and subtle but quirky detail – it’s about making a statement without shouting. The materials employed are very important to McAteer, with alpaca wools from Bolivia used alongside carbon finished jersey and beautiful details like corozo nut buttons.
