WORDS BY JULIE DUAN
Most Googled is back at it- think of us as your style agony aunts; relationship advice isn’t our forte, but you can bet last your last proverbial dollar that we can tell you how to rock a head-to-toe leopard print ensemble. The agenda this time: jumpsuits. For some, it’s a chance to show off their sartorial chops, for others, it’s nothing more than an overgrown children’s onesie. But, love it or hate it, it’s the perfect wardrobe solution for fall. Lucky for you, we’re here to tell you how to style the jumpsuit for these key trends this AW18.
1. Work with utility
Fashion can’t get enough of utility wear. The workman’s uniform becomes an effortlessly casual jumpsuit in the hands of Ganni and Manokhi. Slouchy boiler suits are best paired with worn-in trainers or boots for an ‘I just threw this on’ appeal.
2. Layer your jumpsuit
Think less functional and more measured. Wear a denim jumpsuit over a graphic t-shirt for a Gen-Z approved take on casual dressing. Or if streetwear is more your vibe, throw a branded sweatshirt over a printed jumpsuit and cinch in the waist with a utility belt from (where else?) Off-White.
3. The Sportswear Takeover
Rejoice, because after years of body-con silhouettes and excruciating stilettos, we’re finally in a golden age where comfort is key. Our obsession with nostalgic ‘90s sports brands and the streetwear phenomenon has led to a plethora of sports-fashion hybrids. No longer relegated to lounging at home, wear these all-in-ones with teeny tiny sunglasses and a belt bag for oodles of street cred.
4. Print Mania
Electric colours and in-your-face prints rule the day. Not for the shy and retiring wallflower, these formal jumpsuits are aimed at the boldest and flashiest of us. Burberry is taking the helm with graphic interpretations of its iconic check. And what do you wear with a full body print? Well, sculptural heels and statement earrings are a good start. After all, more is more.
