Inside the dot COMME Archives
Words by Jessica Aureli
For some people, the impulse to collect is something that fades with time: from schoolyard toys to the records and magazines that are a mainstay of teenage bedrooms, the obsession wanes, and the connection is lost.
And yet for others, it’s not. In the case of Octavius la Rosa (Otto, to his friends), an almost-lifelong obsession with Comme des Garçons – he started when he was just 18 – has meant that, today, he is in posession of one of the most highly regarded collections of archival pieces in the world. We visited Otto at his Melbourne boutique, dot COMME, to rediscover the magic of Comme des Garçons, right from the very beginning.
