WORDS BY STEPHEN YU
Remember Yandhi? Yeh, neither do we. If there’s one thing we’re proper grateful for, it’s that Kanye West drops trainers more regularly than albums. Shout out to the god of sneakers, Yeezus truly is king. And there’s one sneaker in particular we’ve all been praying for.
It all began in July this year. In an interview with Forbes, Kanye gave the world a glimpse of the upcoming season’s Yeezy sneakers. Through blurry JPEGs and paused videos Yeezy fans identify a new silhouette amongst a crop circle of sneakers, one so mindblowingly futuristic it was as if it was left in a Calabasas parking lot by an alien civilisation. Then, on July 9th, pictures started circulating of Kanye stepping out in LA in what looked like the latest version of his most successful sneaker, the 350. The 380 was officially here.
With another Yeezy 380 release date looming, and several more Yeezy 380 colorways on the horizon in 2020, we thought now would be a good time to get you clued up on everything Yeezy 380 on feet. Just exactly how does the sexier younger sister to the greatest Yeezy sneaker of all time compare to her older, maybe a bit past it, sibling? Who looks better, who feels better and who’s lower maintenance? While we couldn’t get Ye onboard to answer our questions (he knows a thing or two about attractive sisters), we did manage to get the next best thing around – some real certified OG sneakerheads. Sorry Kanye, but consider us well and truly off the 350s you supplied.

Rumours were that the Adidas Yeezy Boost 380 was originally supposed to be the 350 V3, and I can see why. It retains all the great aspects of its predecessor model such as a flexible Primeknit upper, a chunky and comfortable Boost midsole for cushioning, and those thick rope laces we’ve seen incorporated on Yeezys since the beginning. However, it's a refreshing shakeup from the overload of Yeezy Boost 350 V2, 700 and 500 releases Adidas has been dropping for the past while. While still retaining the great comfort of the 350 V2, they also have a really unique look to them - organic and alien-like - which draws a very divisive reaction from the sneaker community which I always appreciate from Kanye and Adidas' designs.
Yeezy 380 vs Yeezy 350: Who wins?
As of right now, I prefer the feel of the 350 on feet more, but that could change with added wear and with time. My initial thoughts of the 380 were that they felt a bit unstable, especially around the heel of the shoe due to the way the heel is curved upwards. The 350, on the other hand, is much more stable, it’s flatter and also has a wider base around the forefoot. In terms of the comfort of the Boost, I'd say that they felt similar, perhaps with more cushioning and softness on the 380's forefoot, but a harder feeling heel. Design wise - you can't really go wrong with both. The 380s, as of now, are probably the more striking design due in part to them just being new. But they are both solid choices to wear from both a comfort and aesthetic standpoint.
Yeezy 380 vs Yeezy 350: What are the differences in comfort, fit and sizing?
The 380 and 350 V2 are comparable from a comfort standpoint. The underfoot feeling of the Boost soles are quite similar, but the upper is where they differ. The 380 has a sock-like fit, where the collar of the shoe wraps around your ankles, which is different than the 350 which tapers away from your ankles. In addition, the 380 has a bit more of a roomier feel around the toes - which was a common complaint among consumers about the 350 V2, as the shallow toebox of the 350 V2 often caused discomfort for people's toes. Sizing wise - I personally went up a half size up for both models, but the 380 I feel could be worn true to size as well if you prefer a more snug fit.
Any tips on protecting and cleaning the Yeezy 380?
I haven't worn mine in snowy or wet weather yet, so fortunately, my pair is still good as new. However, I anticipate that it would be similar to the Yeezy Boost 350 in terms of protecting and cleaning. They both have a Primeknit upper that essentially should be protected and cleaned as a fabric (so that means no abrasive brushes), and a rubber outsole that shouldn't be too difficult to scrub with a stiff bristled brush and some sneaker cleaning solution. I personally never apply protector spray on my shoes, but I know a lot of people who have used product on their Yeezys with no issues.

I love the Adidas Yeezy Boost 380 firstly because it’s so comfortable, and secondly the silhouette blends the best of both worlds, falling somewhere between the V1 and V2 Yeezy 350. It delivers a sock-like comfort of the V1, and the front upper shape of the V2. However, I’m not overly keen on the Alien colorway so I’m hoping for something better in the 380.
Yeezy 380 vs Yeezy 350: Who wins?
At the moment the 350 V2 wins the on-feet look but mostly because we only have one colorway of the 380 right now. The 350 silhouette falls in the ‘iconic’ category for me and is relatively easy to style with track pants, combats or skinny jeans. The Yeezy 380 is harder to style at the moment but let’s see what happens in 2020.
Yeezy 380 vs Yeezy 350: What are the differences in comfort, fit and sizing?
Honestly, the Yeezy Boost 380 is by far the most comfortable sneaker from Yeezy of all time. The most notable change in the look and feel of the 380 design is the heel, it has a sharp angle pointing up at the back which I find actually assists you when walking. The ankle also has a sock finish which is snug and overall it just seems to work perfectly. The fit is true to size which is refreshing for Yeezy’s too, I have a slightly wider foot than normal so maybe that plays a part.

Like all Yeezy Boost sneakers they are not the easiest to take care of, mainly due to the material of the upper. Sneaker protection sprays don’t really work that well with Yeezy’s so wearing them during the winter months is always going to be a risky adventure. I generally ride my luck and wear the rarer colorways when I know there’s guaranteed sunshine.

There are huge expectations for the Adidas Yeezy Boost 380, it being the successor to the one of the most iconic sneakers ever – the Yeezy 350 V2. I absolutely love the futuristic upper and the whole rippled sole. It has its own unique look and feel compared to all the other sock sneakers on the market. The primeknit feels more durable and the added ankle collar will give your foot more support. The translucent patch is also back again giving you the ability to show off those crazy socks which I will surely do.
Yeezy 380 vs Yeezy 350: Who wins?
The comfort and feel on 380 is a lot different from the 350. The Yeezy 380 has more athletic feel to it rather than the 350 which has a soft squishy feel. The sneaker can be a little tricky to get on because of the tight ankle collar but after a few wears it will definitely break in nicely. Taking them off is just as nice, they simply slip off the foot with ease. Aesthetically, the sneaker has a more futuristic look with its digi-camo print and translucent blob on the side. It will have your friends wondering whether your shoes really are from outer space.
Yeezy 380 vs Yeezy 350: What are the differences in comfort, fit and sizing?
‘If it ain’t broke then don’t fix it’. Sharing a similar design and the same comfort qualities as the Yeezy 350 V2, the new Yeezy 380 is already one of the more comfortable sneakers on the market. The sock-like upper hugs your foot like a glove, and the added full length Boost continues to be the best cushioning technology on the market. Sizing-wise, they fit very similar to its predecessor the Yeezy 350 V2. I recommend going for a half size up because the sock-like uppers and ankle collar fit quite snug against your foot. You can also remove the insole for more room since you’re already directly walking on Boost.

I recommend picking up a sneaker cleaning kit to protect your pair. They will get dirty very fast especially the white & grey “Alien” colorway.

I love the Adidas Yeezy Boost 380 because it's different. We're finally getting a new take on the low top Boost Yeezy and it's a solid refinement over the 350 v2. The 380 is more comfortable than the 350 and definitely has a much more unique look.
Yeezy 380 vs Yeezy 350: Who wins?
It's tough deciding between the 380 and the 350 v2. I love the way the 350 v2 looks, but I prefer how the 380 feels. They're both great shoes, but they both have their strong suits. If I know I'm going to be walking around all day, I’ll throw on the 380. If I'm just focused on a certain look or outfit, I usually go with the 350 v2.
Yeezy 380 vs Yeezy 350: What are the differences in comfort, fit and sizing?
The Yeezy Boost 380 fits slightly better than the 350 V2, but still isn't perfectly true to size. The fit is most comparable to the newer Yeezy 350 V2s that released in the last year. It still fits a tad small so if you have wide feet you may want to go up half a size. If you have narrow feet, like myself, you should be fine going true to size!
Any tips on protecting and cleaning the Yeezy 380?
The Yeezy Boost 380's are easy enough to take care of. Primeknit uppers always present a bit of a problem because they absorb liquid that falls on them so they stain much more easily than leather shoes. I usually spray on some Reshoevn8r Water and Stain Repellent before I wear a new pair of sneakers and that helps keep them cleaner for longer.
