WORDS BY JOSEPH FURNESS
Some say the Yeezy 700 is the Yeezy 350’s successor. The instantly recognisable Yeezy It shoes are super comfortable, semi-accessible and available in a slew of novel colourways — just three reasons why all four versions of the shoe are so prevalent today.
Back in 2017, the first Yeezy 700 was released as Kanye’s interpretation of the dad shoe trend. The original design consists of a plush layered upper, uber-thick Boost midsole, an OrthoLite inner sole and a thick pair of laces; essentially, it looks like a chunky 90s kick created with premium materials.
Since 2017, the Yeezy 700 has evolved multiple times to conform to current trends, bringing us the Yeezy Boost 700 V2, Yeezy 700 V3 and Yeezy Boost 700 MNVN.
To help you get better acquainted with the sneaker line, we’ve created a complete Yeezy 700 timeline with a little help from our friend Zack Schlemmer, Content Manager at Stadium Goods. Discover every model and colourway released thus far, below.

Yeezy Boost 700 V1 Wave Runner
‘The Yeezy 700 Wave Runner is the first and most iconic colourway of the chunky sneaker. I think it’ll hold the most value over time,’ Zach Schlemmer
The Yeezy Boost 700 V1 Wave Runner ushered in a new era for Yeezy, one that eschewed gym-ready designs and focused on conspicuous and luxurious lifestyle silhouettes. To signal this switch in focus, Kanye added vibrant accents to the cool grey shoe — colours that stand out when placed within his strictly neutral portfolio of adidas sneakers.

Yeezy Boost 700 V1 Mauve
The second Yeezy 700 release, released a whopping 11 months after the Wave Runner, is a new and improved take on the V1: it features extra padding and elastic on the side of the tongue to hold it in place. Additionally, it embraced the quintessential Yeezy palette — named Mauve, the colourway is predominantly saturated with a purpley-brown and is accented with a hint of lime green.

Yeezy Boost 700 V2 Static
'Of all the 700 models, the V1 and the V2 share the most similarities,’ Zack Schlemmer
One year on from the Yeezy 700’s debut, the sneaker received its first major update. The Yeezy 700 V2 boasts a spongy mesh upper, a striped sidewall and various reflective components, which all come together to create an aerodynamic aesthetic. As for the Static colourway, well, it’s one of the best ever.

Yeezy Boost 700 V1 Salt
If there’s one thing adidas x Yeezy always gets right, it’s subtle shades. The Salt colourway — which is kinda blue, kinda blue and kinda grey — brought new life to the V1 model thanks to its monochromatic design.

Yeezy Boost 700 V1 Inertia
Kanye took us to outer space with his second 700 release of 2019 – the V1 Inertia. By adorning the silhouette with silvers, greys and a little bit of orange, the rapper-cum-designer created a retro-futuristic kick that’s often hailed as one of the best V1s ever.

Yeezy Boost 700 V2 Geode
Par for the course, the second colourway of the V2 came in an earthy hue and was officially titled the Yeezy Boost 700 V2 Geode. Who knew brown could be so chic?

Yeezy Boost 700 V1 Analog
For months, Yeezy devotees had been screaming out for a white take on the V1; their prayers were finally answered in spring 2019 when the Yeezy Boost 700 V1 Analog was released. Never before has a Yeezy looked so fresh and clean, which is just one of the reasons why the sneaker has been the mainstay in our sneaker rotations for over two years.

Yeezy Boost 700 V2 Vanta
It's often said that simplicity is the secret to perfection, which explains why the Yeezy Boost 700 V2 Vanta — a blacked-out take on the shoe — is one of the most ubiquitous Yeezy sneakers to ever drop.
Fun fact: this was the first 700 V2 to be adorned with three stripes on the sidewall rather than four.
June 15 2019
Yeezy Boost 700 V2 Tephra
'The Yeezy 700 Tephra V2 is my favourite V2 colourway because it’s not too light or too dark, meaning it can be styled with almost anything,’ Zack Schlemmer
In case you're wondering, tephra is a word that describes the fragments that are ejected from a volcano during an eruption. Fittingly, the Yeezy Boost 700 V2 Tephra is decorated with rock-inspired hues — namely creams, greys and browns.

Yeezy Boost 700 V1 Utility Black
The Utility Black take on the Yeezy Boost 700 V1 hits all the right notes — the rugged, faded black upper and midsole is contrasted against a gum sole to create a dreamy utilitarian aesthetic. What more could you ask for from a blacked-out Yeezy?
September 7 2019
Yeezy Boost 700 V2 Inertia
Just like the V1 colourway, the Inertia V2 is totally out of this world. The grey, silver and orange palette gives the 3M-heavy silhouette a futuristic feel that’s sure to harmonise with any contemporary wardrobe.
September 9 2019
Yeezy Boost 700 V1 Magnet
The reason why the Yeezy Boost 700 V1 Magnet is, dare we say it, so magnetic is because of its familiar yet unique look. Taking inspiration from the OG Wave Runner colourway and the Inertia V1, the late summer release is subtle with its bluey-grey upper and midsole, orange accents and gum sole.
September 28 2019
Yeezy Boost 700 V2 Hospital Blue
Things got clinical in autumn 2019 when adidas x Yeezy released the Hospital Blue V2. The monochromatic sneaker is sleek, clean, streamlined and most importantly, unfussy.
October 26 2019
Yeezy Boost 700 V1 Teal Blue
Blue was the go-to hue for Yeezy during late 2019, and one of the most anticipated releases at the time was the Teal Blue V1 — a shoe so foolproof, even our grandads could pull it off.
December 18 2019
Yeezy Boost 700 V1 Carbon Blue
The blue tones just kept coming as in December 2019, the Carbon Blue V2 was released. The striking kick was created for the trailblazers — those who strive to stand out from the crowd.
December 23 2019
Yeezy 700 V3 Azeal
'The Yeezy 700 V3 is a completely different shoe to the other three models. It doesn’t feature mesh, leather, suede or Boost; instead, it’s constructed with TPU, neoprene, EVA foam and a stretchy knitted material,’ Zack Schlemmer
Kanye and his team completely reinvented the idea of the Yeezy 700 with the release of the futuristic, foam-soled V3 that makes the other versions of the shoe look retro (We mean, it even glows in the dark!). As for the Azeal colourway — well, it’s quite frankly perfect.

Yeezy Boost 700 MNVN Black
The guys and gals over at Yeezy were in the mood for experimenting, so they dropped yet another take on the Yeezy 700 — and this one featured an innovative nylon upper. But instead of naming it the V4, they dubbed it the Yeezy Boost MNVN. What does the acronym stand for? Well, the truth is, no one really knows. ‘MODERN VERSION’, perhaps?

Yeezy Boost 700 MNVN Orange
To create more hype around the new nylon model, adidas dropped a vivid orange take on the sneaker just weeks after the black iteration was released. This eye-catching colourway is certainly not for the faint-hearted, but it does do a great job at showing off the details on the new shoe — such as the prominent ‘700’ typography located on the kick’s sidewalls.
April 11 2020
Yeezy 700 V3 Alvah
Every Yeezy silhouette deserves an all-black colourway, including the Yeezy 700 V3. The Yeezy 700 Alvah V3 transforms the cutting-edge kick by taking it to the dark side; naturally, this proved to be just as popular as the OG colourway.

Yeezy Boost 700 MNVN Phosphor
If you thought the Orange MNVN was bright, wait until you get a glimpse of the Yeezy Boost 700 MNVN Phosphor. The neon green — or is it yellow? — shoe serves workwear energy which makes it a great choice of kick for sneakerheads and tradesmen alike.
July 11 2020
Yeezy Boost 700 MNVN Bone
Half a year on from its launch, the Yeezy Boost 700 MNVN was finally realised in a very-Kanye neutral hue. The Bone MNVN offers tonal dressers a nylon kick that’s sure to work well with all of their earth-inspired — most likely, oversized — looks.
August 29 2020
Yeezy 700 V3 Azareth
For summer 2020, a splash of blue was added to the V3 to create the Arzareth colourway. This 700 was the first to come with Yeezy’s new bungee-style laces — also known as infinity laces. The laces look super clean and offer the wearer ample flexibility.

Yeezy 700 Safflower V3
Inspired by the yellow thistle-like plant it’s named after, the Yeezy 700 V3 Safflower is perfect for injecting a dose of colour into a muted ensemble.
December 21 2020
Yeezy 700 V3 Clay Brown
Nearing the end of 2020, Yeezy x adidas dropped one of the most underrated kicks in the entire Yeezy 700 line — the Clay Brown V3. Complete with a muddy brown midsole, gum sole and predominantly black upper, the combination of hues give this shoe an appealingly gritty aesthetic.

Yeezy Boost 700 V1 Sun
'I think after doing all of the experimenting and tweaking with the 700, adidas has realised that the first version is the most appealing to true Yeezy fans,’ Zack Schlemmer
After a year spent locked up indoors, everyone was hopeful that 2021 would signal a new age. The Yeezy brand encapsulated this unanimous feeling in their first 700 release of the year — the Yeezy Boost 700 V1 Sun. Never has a Yeezy crep looked so colourful.
March 13 2021
Yeezy Boost 700 V2 Cream
Sneakerheads were still trying to get their hands on the notably scarce Yeezy Boost 700 Static V2 years after its release; so, to satisfy their needs, adidas released a similar shoe that swapped out some of the grey tones for a delectable cream colour. Aptly, they named the kick the Yeezy Boost 700 V2 Cream.
March 25 2021
Yeezy 700 V3 Kyanite
Kanye and his team love to remix popular colourways to create something brand new — which is precisely what he did with the Kyanite V3. The spring 2021 colourway features a blue knit pattern similar to the Arzareth V3 and an off-white sidewall cage and midsole similar to the OG Azeal V3. The result? A must-have kick for the Yeezy collection.
April 24 2021
Yeezy Boost 700 V1 Bright Blue
Alike the aforementioned V1 Sun, the Yeezy Boost 700 V1 Bright Blue revitalises the retro-inspired V1 with bold, radiant colours. We for one are huge fans of the orange midsole and hope to see more bright and colourful Yeezys in the future.
