The summer season may be ending in some eyes, especially at a number of the collections shown at Paris Couture Fashion Week 2017, but Giambattista Valli set his sights on a collection that’s firmly set in spring.
Fashion photographer Kevin Tachman was backstage for Farfetch at this year’s Giambattista Valli Paris Couture show. The collection, as Paris Couture shows often do, focused on luxury evening wear.
Kevin Tachman captured a mood of excitement and anticipation as models waited before their moment on the mosaic runway with a frow of Anna Wintour and Celine Dion.
Paying homage to spring, Valli’s collection of dresses featured macramé floral details, sequins, lace and was heavy with floral textures, reminiscent of English Roses. The couture gowns of delicate, tumbling layers of tulle, elusive yet beautiful works of embroidery were the stars of the collection.
Models wait in anticipation of their runway moments in a pale pink broderie anglaise mini-dress with statement shoulders, in a springtime cherry blossom hue that also added its own intensity to the show. As did the heavily beaded and sequined mini dresses; all embellished with dainty yellow and green flowers.
Although spring inspired, the collection also had contrasting details that brought out a level of unexpected edginess. The slim, black stiletto heels and blood-red lips hinted at another side to the floral fanfare of the embroidery, lace and sequin embellishments. As did some of the more dramatic black tulle evening gowns.
