Introducing There Was One

Share

WORDS BY JOSEPH FURNESS

There’s nothing more satisfying than a style foundation of effortless staples, especially if those pieces have been created as ethically and consciously as possible. Enter There Was One – the latest brand from FARFETCH-owned fashion company, New Guards Group.

Why should you invite There Was One into your wardrobe? For a start, each piece has been carefully designed to be dependable, versatile and comfortable – the kind of pieces that look and feel appropriate for work meetings, WFH days spent on Google Meet, weekend trips out and even weddings. It’s also never been easier to pair conscious items together, as each piece from There Was One is purposely fashioned to coordinate with the rest. Plus, each piece has been created using eco-friendly fabrics, from Texloop™ recycled cotton to LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose, meaning that you can shop with a clear conscience.

There Was One: Drops

There Was One will eschew seasonal collections in favor of a drop strategy that’s popularly espoused by contemporary conscious brands. By choosing not to comply with fashion’s fast-paced calendar, There Was One grants itself the freedom to focus on producing evergreen staples that can be seamlessly incorporated into one’s pre-established wardrobe.

There Was One: Stockists

There Was One has been developed by FARFETCH-owned fashion company New Guards Group, meaning that the brand will be exclusively available on our platform.

There Was One: Conscious Fabrics

One of the key reasons New Guards Group has formed There Was One is to provide ethically-minded consumers with an entire line of chic, responsible apparel. And, of course, the true meaning of sustainable fashion is longevity; thus, all of There Was One’s pieces are designed to last and remain en vogue ad infinitum.

Here are all of the conscious fabrics used to produce the debut There Was One drop:

  • Certified organic cotton, silk and wool

  • Cardato certified cotton

  • Texloop™ recycled cotton

  • Q-NOVA® certified polyamide

  • Certified recycled wool and polyamide

  • Certified alternatives to animal down

  • LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose

  • FSC-certified viscose

  • Certified leather from Leather Working Group Gold (WGG) tanneries

There Was One: Packaging and Labels

It would be hypocritical of There Was One to employ environmentally unfriendly processes and materials to create packaging and labels; consequently, the brand has embarked on a mission to use the most sustainable packaging and labels possible.

There Was One’s zero plastic packaging consists of a certified compostable bag and an FSC mix-certified recycled box and paper. Additionally, each There Was One label is made of natural materials – one of which is a compostable swing tag containing seeds that grow into evergreen plants and herbs.
