WORDS BY DAISY SCOTT
For the last five years at FARFETCH, we've been bringing the coolest collections to your little one's closets. To celebrate that playful energy that kidswear brings, we've compiled a selection of our favorite kid's brands (because parents can't always be the best dressed in the room).
Here are some key names in kids fashion who are always bringing style to the playground.
DOLCE & GABBANA KIDS
Add some sunshine to your little one's closet. Whether you're packing for that much-needed vacation or you want to bring a smile to their face — we recommend looking to Dolce & Gabbana Kids for fanciful florals, traditional Sicilian prints, and metallic crown motifs.
Referencing its mainline collection, the subsequent kids' label is designed to match attitude and aesthetics (in a child-conscious way). Of course, as with each season, you can expect to find flowing floral dresses that can easily transition from the beach to any special occasion. When it comes to the boys, find crown motifs across cotton T-shirts.
GUCCI KIDS
What Gucci Kids always gets right, is the childish sense of fantasy and imagination that lets kids be, well kids. Drawing on nostalgia each season shows off the ‘70s-inspired silhouettes that we can't help but adore and kitsch-prints that remain forever cute.
So, what do we love from the recent Gucci Kids collection? It must be the illustrative collaboration with children's book illustrator, Freya Hartas. This collection brings trendsetting pieces to your little one's closet, with some added magic too.
Think soft white cotton designs featuring mythical creates and the brand logo spelt backwards or opt for whimsical embroidered cotton shirts featuring classic Peter Pan collars that spark up your little one’s imagination.
FENDI KIDS
For fearless, fun designs there’s no reason for you to look anywhere else other than Fendi Kids. Continuing its reign amongst logomania, Fendi Kids has proven that its traditional double F monogram never goes out of style. But what might give the brand a playful uplift is its development into vibrant pops of yellow and glimpses of green.
Discover reversible monogram zip-up jackets and matching logo belt bags that perfectly suit any adventure, or make sure your little girl is the trendsetter at any special occasion with monogrammed dresses with embellished pink bows.
Of course, you can’t forget the iconic Monster motifs and famous Bad Bugs that keep kids wanting to go back to Fendi.
STELLA MCCARTNEY KIDS
It would make perfect sense to add some positivity to your little one’s closet. Stella McCartney Kids has been a trailblazer for sustainable fashion for over a decade and what’s even better, is that the imagination at the heart of each collection never stops. AW21 at Stella McCartney Kids returns to the world as curious as it could ever be — “Celebrating fresh experiences in our direct surroundings.”
Think illustrated florals and a plethora of poodles with the iconic ‘STELLA LOVES’ print for your little girls. When it comes to the boys' line, discover geometric camouflage prints in earthy shades.
Fun Fact: this AW21 collection has been made from 85% conscious materials.
So where do you start with the wealth of choice? Think dalmatian-print graphic dresses and sustainable cotton-blend garden-themed intarsia knitted vest for little girls. For the boys? Look no further than graffiti-print long-sleeve T-shirts and elasticated cotton-blend track pants with key geometric camouflage prints.
CHLOÉ KIDS
If you’re looking to bring sophistication and add mini versions of your favorite pieces to your little girl’s closet, then Chloé Kids has everything you need. Keeping its signature blush pinks, neutral tones, and Parisian-style codes — each Chloé Kids piece can be worn season on season.
Expect to find traditional Broderie Anglaise across ruffled-hem dresses and scalloped-edge faux-fur gilets. Explore the retro-inspired aspects of the brand — think buckle-fastening capes that match those on the mainline runway or the most comfortable cotton-stretch straight leg denim with intricate woven trims.
OFF-WHITE KIDS
Relatively new to the kidswear scene, Off-White Kids has already been making leaps towards becoming one of the favorite brands amongst trend-wary kids (and their parents).
Launching its first collection for FW21, Creative Director, Virgil Abloh stated: “I often see images of Off-White™ consumers with their kids, dressing up their kids. I wanted to expand our roster and offer something from our world to these youngsters, too.”
And so, they did. Inspired by subcultures, you’ll find vibrant color palettes and kids’ take on the signature Off-White logo which has now been scribbled across most of the collection.
Of course, when it comes to Off-White you can’t forget sneakers. The Low Vulcanized kids’ sneaker features brand emblem security tags and diagonal stripes in cotton and canvas, for your little one’s comfort.
Where should you start exploring with Off-White Kids? We think the classic graphic-printed cotton tee is always a winner, alongside the younger take on the now-iconic buckle belt. Now, they are ready to take on the streetwear world.
