WORDS BY AMELIA BELL
One of the most prolific collaborators in fashion and culture right now, Off-White founder, Virgil Abloh, has just teamed up with our very own Browns to create an exclusive 21-piece collection.
‘’The capsule has the essence of Off-White™ embedded in it’’ says Abloh. ’’A mix of street and chic sensibilities wrapped up into one expression.”
In true Off-White style, painterly prints, featuring an exclusive, floral hand-drawn pattern, are met with downscaled hoodies and matching tracksuits that walk the line between streetwear and glamour. Off-White thrives on these paradoxes, as does Abloh himself, who is known to collect everything from Birkins to vintage streetwear.
You’ll also find some of the label’s iconic pieces such as the silk pyjama and popular flap bag reworked with new details, plus, of course, Off-White’s signature ‘X’ motifs. As for the colour palette, print-heavy graphics are offset by blues and military greens.
Last year alone, Virgil Abloh, who recently took on the role of Artistic Director at Louis Vuitton, collaborated with some of the biggest names in the business – Nike, Levi’s, Jimmy Choo, Umbro and Kith.
A serious polymath, Abloh’s C.V spans from creative director, architect to DJ - all of which fuel his design experiment. In fact, Kanye West discovered Abloh during his early DJ days in Chicago, where he was known as Flat White. He soon became the rapper’s right-hand man at just 22 years old, and went on to design the much-hyped Watch the Throne album, before launching his own vision in 2013.
