WORDS BY JOSEPH FURNESS
How does Raf Simons do it? Always one step ahead of fashion’s biggest trends, his status as a modern trailblazer is well-deserved. Take the Adidas by Raf Simons Ozweego for example, the OG chunky trainer that ushered in a new era of sneakers.
Now, Simons has gone into full hyperdrive and created a new version of the sneaker that again, looks utterly ahead of its time. Known as the Ozweego Replicant, the sneaker’s name and deconstructed styling is inspired by the cult-classic film Blade Runner - a fittingly futuristic tribute.
Could you wear these on a date?
They might be an unusual choice for date attire, but these sneakers will definitely win style points. Test your date by telling them all about how your sneaker’s black, red and yellow colourway is inspired by Belgium, Raf Simon’s country of birth. If they seem even remotely interested, they’re a keeper.
Could you wear these into the office?
A bit directional for work; personally, I think these ones are for the weekend. Whatever the situation, please remember to wear appropriate socks - they will peek through the sneakers cut-out segments. And if you do decide to wear them to the office, I’d advise against those ‘days of the week’ socks you got for Christmas — none of your colleagues want to be reminded that it’s Monday.
Could you wear these on a log flume?
No, didn’t I mention the giant cut-outs on either side? Your sneakers will fill up with water faster than the Titanic and your feet will get drenched. I wouldn’t even risk them on the gentlest of river rapid rides.

What does my grandmother think of these?
“I think these are my favourite so far!! I love the style and as a bonus, they look extremely comfortable (this is becoming her catchphrase… zzz). My only negative comment would be that I would personally need to coordinate them with my outfit, something that could be restrictive. I wear a lot of black, so with a couple of red/yellow accessories, they would take me anywhere. Xxx”
