The Nike Air Max 98 'La Mezcla' is a special edition colorway from the 'On Air' collection. In 2018, Nike invited locals from New York City, London, Paris, Seoul, Shanghai, and Tokyo to design their own Air Max colourways on a model of their choosing. The finalists were then chosen by the public, with one winner from each city. NYC’s winner was Gabrielle Serrano, who created this 'La Mezcla' colourway. Spanish for 'mixture,' the 'La Mezcla' Air Max 98 features a gradient upper from black to brown to white inspired by the diversity of New York City. The colours represent the full spectrum of skin colours you’ll find in the city, while the crackled leather paneling represents the 'concrete jungle.' Green and blue accents represent the Statue of Liberty and the water surrounding the city, respectively. The limited edition Nike Air Max 98 'La Mezcla' released on April 13, 2019.
