Designed in 1978 by the head of Hermès’ equestrian department, Evelyne Bertrand, the namesake bag debuted as a functional carryall for horse groomers – the perforated ‘H’ originally faced inwards to ventilate tools. It was used exclusively by the riding branch before transferring to the leather goods department in the early 2000s, resulting in designs like this orange and white first-generation iteration marked by its canvas shoulder strap. It’s crafted in durable and scratch-resistant Togo leather with a belt-style closure.
