Pucci basically invented psychedelic pastels, so it’s no surprise that the Italian label’s smooth ice cream hues are a winner for SS18. You may not be able to escape to a yacht on the Med — but there’s nothing stopping you from bringing Riviera vibes to the office. No designer pairs pastels and prints better.
Posh Spice was always about that little black dress, but these days it’s powerful pastels for Victoria Beckham. This season her collection is all about finding strength in the feminine (via her signature nonchalant, sophisticated aesthetic, naturally). Whatever your preferred ice cream flavour, the Spice Girl proves that Girl Power comes in many shades — including sugared-almond, soft duck egg and Parma violet…
The international powerhouse that is Prada really knows how to keep things sugar-sweet throughout the seasons — ideal for when it’s technically Spring but for some reason is snowing outside. Their Resort 2018 collection masters a whimsical aesthetic via cotton candy pastels covered with James Jean’s fantastical prints. And here, Snow Queens at heart can opt for icy blues and mint greens, resplendent with rich textures and sparkly crystals.
Adding milk, cocoa, and chocolate syrup to anything makes it more appealing — and that includes fashion! Sander Lak knows this well — the Sies Marjan designer famously hand-makes all of his colours (opposed to picking them from a colour card), resulting in wonderfully original tones. Case in point, this season’s creamy milkshake hues, achieved through milking up some of his colours instead of watering them down. And if you’re on the search for something even more chocolatey, you won’t have to wait long — the label’s AW18 collection is full of cocoa infused creations.
I mean, does fashion get any more delicious? OK you may not be able to indulge on those pistachio, vanilla bean, or sweet strawberry ice cream designs — but at least they won’t have melted next time you open your closet!
