The 1980s Redux
‘The 1980s were about ostentation, standing out and extravagance,’ says Angelo Caroli, founder of A.N.G.E.L.O Vintage, in reference to an era in which the revered Italian boutique specialises. ‘Yves Saint Laurent is particularly emblematic, especially its iconic, unique jackets,’ Angelo adds. ‘I think that today, contemporary fashion tends to mix the ostentation of the 1980s with the minimalism of the 1990s – I like to mix the two.’ Here, he takes note of the key pieces perfect for now, and the designers doing them well.
The Power Jacket
‘The added touch of the emblematic shoulder pads on this YSL denim jacket make it a staple from the 1980s, especially when styled with the designer’s fitted pencil skirt.’
