The Ultimate Yeezy 350 Sizing and Fit Guide

WORDS BY JOSEPH FURNESS

“Our work is never over”, utters Daft Punk in the back of Kanye’s 2007 smash-hit Stronger: a statement that offers insight into the outspoken Gemini's mindset. The rapper-turned-designer is constantly updating and improving all of his artistic ventures ― from his music (we’re STILL waiting on Yhandi, the sequel to 2013’s Yeezus) to his eponymous clothing line.

But nothing’s been upgraded more than the Yeezy Boost 350, the most popular and widely-recognised silhouette in Ye’s collaboration with Adidas. With over 20 releases since 2015, the Yeezy Boost 350 is now available in a variety of forms (here on Farfetch, hint hint) ― from completely reflective pairs to glow-in-the-dark pairs.

What do they all have in common? Not their fit, that’s for sure. It's common knowledge in the sneakerverse that a pair of Yeezy Boost 350 V1s are more or less true to size, and their predecessors, the Yeezy Boost 350 V2s, have a smaller fit and therefore require you to cop half a size up (or, for those with wide feet, a full size up).

However, everyone’s sizing preferences are different; and that’s why we’ve asked a handful of the most influential sneakerheads in the world for their Yeezy Boost 350 top tips.

“Sneakers are more than just for aesthetics these days; the comfort and fit of the kicks are now an important consideration when coping kicks. In my opinion, Adidas formulated one of the most innovative and comfortable forms of cushioning with their Boost technology which the Yeezy 350 silhouette makes use of.

My first pair of Yeezy Boost 350s was the very first V1 colourway, dubbed ‘Turtle Dove’, and is a sneaker that fits true to size. At first, I doubted whether the Yeezy would fit my needs in terms of comfort due to the stiffness of the outsole; although I knew it incorporated Boost technology, it seemed that there wasn’t much room for the Boost foam to expand when walking, but I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it was.

But when Adidas dropped the Yeezy Boost 350 V2, with its refreshed midsole and outsole combination, the Boost was allowed to expand effectively. And that’s why I can confidently call the 350 V2, the perfect sneaker. But, it’s important to note that you’ll need to go half a size up when purchasing a V2 model."

“The Yeezy Boost 350 is the most distinctive and sought-after Yeezy silhouette, and it’s also the Adidas x Yeezy sneaker that I find most comfortable. The combination of the full-length boost sole that provides ‘cloud-like’ cushioning, and the primeknit upper that gives the sneaker a sock fit, gives this shoe a level of extreme comfort that was previously only found in performance sneakers.

The Yeezy 350 V1 Pirate Black is the only sneaker I have ever camped-out overnight for. They are by far my favourite Yeezys that I own. And the Yeezy V1 will always be one of my favourite sneaker silhouettes of all time —not just because of how it looks but also because of what the shoe represents. The Yeezy Boost 350 really changed the game in the sneaker world and created a new generation of sneaker collectors.”

“The Yeezy Boost 350 completely switched-up the comfort game of sneakers by using Adidas’ Boost technology within its construction.

My first pair of Yeezy Boost 350s was the Pirate Black V1s. They were completely different from anything on the market at the time; they turned many heads with their sock-like fit — a look which is now considered the norm.

I found the 350 V1s to run slightly big, so if they were to ever release again, I would opt for a size down. Oppositely, the V2s run small (mainly due to the upper), hence why I always go a whole size up when bagging a pair.”

“In my opinion, both versions of the Yeezy Boost 350 are extremely comfortable and attractive silhouettes. The Yeezy Boost 350 V1 was released in four colourways with the same primeknit pattern covering the upper and the V2 has been released in dozens of different colourways. My first pair was the Yeezy Boost 350 V1 Pirate Black, a shoe, like the rest of the V1s, requires you to go down a size due to its minimal primeknit construction.

The Yeezy Boost 350 V2, the second iteration of the sneaker (as the name suggests), is an upgrade and is produced with a snugger fit. It’s certainly the version that I prefer as I find the design more refined and more pleasant to wear. Many say that the V2 fits half a size small, however, I wear mine true to size and remove the insole as I find this more comfortable!”
