WORDS BY JOSEPH FURNESS
Listen: you want good food, you ask an Italian. You want a late night, you ask a Brit. You want to dress better, you ask a Swede. Home for Martin Hansson — Fashion Editor of Swedish menswear magazine Café — is Stockholm, and he’s an embodiment of his country’s approach to style: pared-back, relaxed, and annoyingly cool.
Martin spoke to Farfetch about how his weekend style suits his Lagom lifestyle (Lagom: the Swedish art of living a balanced life) and what pieces he’s eyeing up for next season.
Right now, I’m all about ‘70s styles. I love the combination of corduroy, stripes and chocolate brown on this Our Legacy overshirt jacket. Perfect for a late summer's weekend like this as it’s suitable for all weathers.
I’m really into plaid coats and jackets. My favourite take on the look comes from the Parisian brand AMI. I can’t wait to get this jacket for when the temperatures drop, the wool will keep me cosy and warm.
Prada has always been one of my go-to brands and I’m a big fan of their old-but-new direction. I love this statement short sleeve shirt which I’ve styled with a simple white long-sleeve T-shirt. This is a shirt I can throw on with my black trousers and J.W Anderson Converse to wear in the evening, instantly freshening up my fit.
After a summer well-spent lounging on the beach in my vacation shirts, it’s almost time to update my wardrobe with a Gucci bowling shirt. This particular shirt features an in-vogue boxy fit that’s alluringly simple.
When I’m shopping for a watch, I always take into consideration the comfort of the wrist-piece, something the Girard-Perregaux Laureato 42mm offers in abundance. Girard-Perregaux watches are consistently sophisticated and always come adorned with intricate details and a perfectly polished finish.
You can’t beat a Swiss watch and this blue dial watch is definitely the next watch I'm eyeing up. The Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronograph 44m is both on-trend and eye-catching. For an owner with a strong eye for detail.
My favourite interseason shoes are Converse: they work well with all outfits. The Converse x J.W. Anderson collaboration certainly suits my weekend style; I just love the way the designer has subtly reworked the iconic designs.
Next on my wishlist is the Prada Cloudbust sneaker. I think the sleek look of the shoe makes it easy to pair with almost anything. I just can’t wait to get these — I’m already planning to wear them with checkered pants and an oversized knitted sweater
