It’s 2017. KKW is spotted in a never-before-seen pair of Adidas Yeezys. Many laugh, calling them names such as ‘Jurassic stompers’, ‘Dino kicks’ and ‘Feet Transformers’. We can’t lie, we’re feeling them. We don’t care about the opinions of others. Rumours circulate that they’re to be called Yeezy ‘Mud Rats’. We have many questions.
It’s 2018. The Yeezy 500 (its official name, confirmed by Adidas) is released in four colourways: Supermoon, Salt, Blush and Utility Black. We see them, we like them, we want them, we get them. Friends, family and Instagram followers start to grow fond of the kicks. We put this down to the way we've been styling them.
It’s 2019. Everyone suddenly wants a pair of Yeezy 500s. Shock. Kanye released the Yeezy 500 in three brand-new colourways: Bone White, Stone and Soft Vision. We converse with three seasoned sneakerheads (who, like us, have adored the 500s since their debut) about their experience wearing the crep. We discuss the sneaker’s design comfort, sizing and fit. We have all the answers. We create a sizing guide.
Welcome to The Ultimate Yeezy 500 Sizing and Fit Guide.
The Yeezy 500 is an impressive Adidas model, perfect for those looking to get the on-trend ‘dad look’. My first pair was the Blush colourway and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. I’m anticipating the ‘Soft Vision’ colourway; I think the pink hue will be really effective upon a Yeezy 500 silhouette.
Sizing and Fit:
Being a great sneaker lover, I understand that each shoe fits differently. The Yeezy 500 fits a little small and I, therefore, advise all future buyers to opt for a half-size up.
Comfort and Design:
For those who are used to wearing Yeezy 350s, I actually find the Adiprene sole on the Yeezy 500 more comfortable. They’re perfect to wear on long days.
The Yeezy 500 is one of the most underrated sneakers on the market. It has an old-school look with a touch of new school flare. The first two colourways that are expected to drop are ‘Bone White’ & ‘Soft Vision’. Both colourways have people hyped since Bone White will be the first Yeezy 500 releasing in full family sizing and Soft Vision introduces a more vibrant colour to the silhouette. I will personally be picking up both colourways.
Sizing and Fit:
In my opinion, the Yeezy 500 fits true to size. They have a wide toe box meaning that your feet have wiggle space and a soft, form-fitting sole. The sole is created with Adiprene, an old but reliable technology that suits the design and function of the 500 better than the Boost found in the 350s and 700s.
Comfort and Design:
The premium suede and mesh upper really improves the quality and comfort of the sneaker and looks even better when worn in a little. Also, the added 3M feature that wraps around the sneaker is dope (and great for Insta pictures).
When the Yeezy 500 was first released, it was such a departure from the sneaker trends of the time. From a design standpoint, Kanye and Adidas took many risks with the shoe which, whether you’re a fan of the silhouette or not, ultimately sparks discussion. The upcoming colourways are sure to be popular as the ‘Bone White’ colourway is really neutral so it can be worn in many different ways, and the ‘Soft Vision’ is a unique shade which is guaranteed to turn heads on the street!
Sizing and Fit:
Sizing-wise, they run a bit small, so some may want to opt for a half-size up. This is due to the shoe’s structure being firm and supportive.
Comfort and Design:
It’s comfortable but in a different way than other Yeezys that incorporate Boost. Adiprene does not have Boost technology’s soft, pillowy feet that many of us have come to love in recent years. Instead, it uses the supportive, responsive Adiprene which adds structure and arch support to the Yeezy 500 — making it preferable for longer wears. The mesh panels of the upper also make the Yeezy 500 a breathable shoe.
