Ever since Comme Des Garcons first debuted at Paris Fashion Week, the all-black aesthetic has been prevalent on catwalks and streets globally. From Kawukobo's loyal followers (dubbed 'crows') to Yohji Yamamoto and Rick Owens, to Nazir Mazhar and black tracksuits on front rows, and Acronym's goth ninja's, the darkest colour has always coloured fashion's most avant-garde moments. One of this season's trends seeks to flip this on its head. Here's how to wear white-on-white this season. Even Skepta's been doing it.
Mix technical fabrics like Prada's luxurious nylon and Stone Island's innovative bonded leather, with functional pieces like these Cav Empt climbing trousers and Saloman's to create an alpine-inspired performance sportswear look.
For those who want to a cut a more unconventional silhouette, we turn again to Comme (is there anything Rei can't do?!). Get creative with different shapes by pairing this asymmetrical jacket with some drop-crotch trousers from Unconditional, or this CDG skirt for the more adventurous dresser. Wear them all together if you have the minerals.
Winter is all about layering. But even more important when wearing just white is to layer with textures. Mix premium wool from Holiday, with a Jil Sander padded down, heavyweight French terry sweatpants from CDG and rugged boots by Rombaut for a luxury look and feel. You might need to keep some money aside for your dry-cleaning bill however...
Black tie. The little black dress. Why does black get all the limelight when it comes to formal events? Prove that white can be just as smart as black with this Martin Margiela coat, Neil Barrett chinos and Camper Lab derbys. Farfetch will not be held responsible should you break any dress codes.
Would any list on white be complete without mentioning Off-White? Virgil's debut at Louis Vuitton took us on a journey through all the colours of the rainbow, and even lead with a slew of all-white looks. And let's not forget his head-to-toe white LV look at the Met Gala (okay, he wore blue Off-White x Nike Jordan I's, forgive me). Very meta. This one's just for fun guys.
