As an Anglo-Indian from a family of female doctors, designer Supriya Lele references a deep-rooted culture throughout her eponymous label. ‘My collections stem from an exploration of my Indian heritage and British cultural identity,’ she explains. ‘With the AW19 collection, I wanted to express my background through the lens of the female doctors in my family and, through that dialogue, the NHS. Hence this capsule featuring a mini-cross print.’ The designer debuted her label at London Fashion Week 2017 and has since featured in Vogue, i-D, The New York Times and Dazed & Confused. Describing her own style as ‘a mixture of vintage designer pieces, menswear and sportswear’, it’s hardly surprising that the brand’s collections feature playful silhouettes, contemporary cuts and androgynous touches – a nod to the designer’s personal taste.
