Feather trims, chunky forms, tactile metallics – from sporty flats to vertiginous heels, spring’s sandals are made for standing out. Three women, from three different cities, show us the styles they’re eyeing this season. Scroll down to shop the highlights.
‘I’m appreciate the finer things now that I’m older. I used to thrift shop a lot and had a giant wardrobe full of clothes that I never really wore. I’ve now downsized and choose to invest in a few key pieces each season. I love experimenting with different ways to interpret ‘corporate’ attire – dressing like this makes me feel strong when I’m directing or on a shoot. I’m actually quite short and I find that the clothes I like to wear can often make me look even shorter, so shoes with a bit of height are perfect for me.’ In shot: Yasmin wears sandals by Saint Laurent.
‘When it comes to my personal style, clean lines and structure are my calling cards. I’d say I am pretty classic but with a bit of unexpected drama, like an injection of bold colour. Like everything I practice, dressing is a bit of a syncretic act for me, with inspiration and pieces coming from a multitude of cultures and ideologies – I’d like to think it’s imbibed unconsciously, from likely and unlikely sources: film, art and cultures that I interact with on my travels.’ In shot: Natasha wears sandals by Prada.
‘My style is eclectic and temperamental – it’s always evolving. I love to be proven wrong about new trends and push boundaries with unique, unexpected pieces. This summer I’ll be experimenting with colour, prints and sequins. They are details that can definitely be applied to accessories too. I’m also really into a simple statement accessory that can finalise my look.’ In shot: Isabella wears sandals by Prada.
