‘I’m obsessed with circles – anything circular,’ says the singer, songwriter and record producer Yannick Ilunga, AKA Petite Noir. It’s fitting for someone who has led a particularly circumnavigatory existence so far: born in Belgium, and having grown up in South Africa, he’s now living in London – for the time being. ‘I’m constantly on the move,’ he says. His style is nonconformist, drawing inspiration from everything from skinheads to sportswear to inform his offbeat yet elegant aesthetic. Unsurprising, then, that he counts his style inspirations as fellow mavericks Samuel Ross (of A-Cold-Wall) and Virgil Abloh. Here he offers his take on the best pieces of the season.
