Rooftop bars, picnics in the park and alfresco dining – sure, a city may not be the first place that springs to mind when thinking about your long, hot summer, but the reality is a little better than expected. Find out how photographer Chris Burt-Allan and actor Tommy Dorfman are styling theirs below.
'For me, every summer starts with the men's Fashion Week circuit, running around between shows, presentations, dinners and events. When it's hot, sunny and dry – don't talk to me about humidity, I'm not into it – I like to wear looser pieces. Empirically I look at fabric, fit, coverage and colours. I usually opt for a cotton tee, wide-leg pants and some sort of light over-shirt. I like to dress up whatever I wear with a pair of great sunglasses, a hat and some jewellery. Essentially my style for a summer in the city is practical, coherent and considered. I like to dress for the situation – and boy do I find myself in a lot of situations.' In shot: Chris wears sunglasses by Gucci eyewear, shirt by Amiri, T-shirt by Gucci, bag by Maison Margiela and sandals by Suicoke.
'I'm in London over from LA for a few weeks working, I'm staying in Notting Hill – it's where I am in my pictures. If I'm in the city during the summer months, I opt for lighter colours, looser fits and, usually, sneakers. I'm definitely more prone to walking around the city rather than taking the Tube. I'd say my overall style is fluid. Right now I'm into wide-leg trousers, cowboy boots, large Raf Simons button-downs and Prada's nylon shirts. I haven't decided if I'm going to get away somewhere later in the summer, but Greece is a potential.' In shot: Tommy wears shirt and trousers by Bode and bag by Prada.
