The best basics are anything but. Here, three guys wear the pieces they can’t live without. See their edits, below.
‘I’m very impulsive, so I dress based on my feelings and how I see myself in that moment, situation or place. I’ve lived in Milan for the past year-and-a-half now. The city has got a really strong sense of style – it’s quite classic but there’s also a new wave bubbling up thanks to the new generation.’ In shot: Marc wears bucket hat by Prada, gilet by GmbH; and trousers by Helmut Lang.
‘The way I dress is both simple and extravagant. I always try to wear colours to bring more joy and fun to my outfits, but in a minimalist way. I live in the south of Paris, in a calm suburb called Les Ulis; before that I lived in Cameroon. Paris definitely has his own style, and that's what makes Paris Paris. The chic and rude Parisians, the historical architecture, the ‘terrasse’... It evolves with every new generation.’ In shot: Simon wears sneakers by Maison Margiela.
‘I feel like the kids in London have an underground aesthetic that you don’t see in many other cities. Personally, I like to mix local designers with thrifted and high end. I just got back from three weeks in South Africa documenting the fashion culture there and found some really cool under-the-radar designers. I’m excited about documenting fashion culture worldwide and using it as a way to bridge communities.’ In shot: Kofi wears track pants by Prada.
