This city is big on self expression. We asked three insiders to share their take on Seoul’s best bits, and to shed some light on how its residents really dress.
‘I’ve lived in Seoul for over 40 years. Right now, I live in a neighbourhood called Sinseol-dong. It has so many beautiful spots, though it’s quite old fashioned in places. There are lots of stylish people here; many use clothes as a way of expressing themselves.’ In shot: Cildu wears sweater by Gucci.
‘In Itaewon, where I live, the style is really diverse. It’s a place where people come together and are totally themselves, especially when it comes to fashion. With my own style, I’d say it’s usually a little extra! But right now, I’m also really into track pants – they just go with everything.’ In shot: Nana wears shirt by Versace.
‘The style here is quite formal – I see a Burberry trench coat every few metres on the subway. But there’s great nightlife here and tranquil places to relax. I love the area around Gwanghwamun gate. As for my own style, I learned a lot from my dad, I loved his taste in clothes. It’s probably why others think I dress older. I’ve never tried streetwear and don’t think I ever will.’ In shot: Gyubin wears watch by Tag Heuer.
