The impact of circularity in fashion
Fact: 73% of used clothes are incinerated or sent to landfill. Shopping pre-owned is a sustainable act, as its environmental impact is much lower than shopping new.
'If everyone bought one used item instead of a new product this year, we’d save millions of pounds of carbon emissions and billions of gallons of water.'
@rachaelwangstudio, ethical fashion advocateOverall, 57% of pre-owned fashion purchases prevented the purchase of something brand new. On average, one pre-owned purchase saves 1kg of waste and 3,040l of water.
‘It’s so important that the fashion industry has realized the impact it plays in this climate crisis – too much clothing is being manufactured and consumed, with devastating effects on the environment.’
@dennisokwera, model and fashion editorMore ways to think, act and choose positively
We're on a mission to become the global platform for good in luxury fashion — empowering everyone to think, act and choose positively. These services help our community get the most out of their existing closets and have a positive impact on the planet at the same time. It's all part of what we call Positively FARFETCH.
