Maison Margiela’s iconic Tabi boots are inspired by the traditional Japanese socks of the same name that have been worn with thonged footwear since the 15th century. Constructed from smooth red leather, this classic pair features the signature cleft toe, a concealed side fastening, a branded leather insole and a cylindrical high block heel. First witnessed during Margiela's debut catwalk show in 1989, they feature the Maison’s exposed white stitching at the back of the ankle.

Martin Margiela may have remained ‘invisible’ while at Maison Margiela, but his deconstructed designs spoke words. With John Galliano at the helm, his collections nod to the former designer’s love of upcycling and distressed details. Find immaculate tailoring, vinyl trench coats and PVC accessories, as well as the iconic Tabi boot reborn as a sock sneaker.
