On was founded by Olivier Bernhard (a three-time world duathlon champion and multiple Ironman winner) and his friends David Allemann and Caspar Coppetti in 2010. Their primary goal was, and still is, to revolutionise the sensation of running.
When was On Running established?
On was established in Zürich, Switzerland when Olivier Bernhard’s friend, a Swiss engineer who worked for public research university ETH Zürich, made a prototype shoe using chopped-up pieces of his garden hose. This prototype led to Bernhard founding the company and creating CloudTec, On’s patented running shoe technology that's as visually appealing as it is functional.
