Best Manolo Blahnik shoes
Uncover the eponymous designer’s best-loved shoes, from ballet flats to stiletto heels, kitten heels to mules.
Manolo Blahnik Hangisi heeled pumps
The Hangisi pump, launched in 2008, became an instant classic — and not just because they appeared as Carrie Bradshaw’s ‘something blue’ in ‘Sex And The City’. The signature square buckle features 144 Swarovski crystals and was inspired by portraits of Napoleon’s wife, Josephine, and Pauline Bonaparte by artist Giovanni Boldini. With such a rich fashion history, it’s no wonder this pointed pump is such an enduring designer shoe.
Manolo Blahnik Gibsli slingbacks
A mid-size heel in a creamy white makes this Manolo heel the perfect wedding shoe. The pump features the house’s classic crystal embellishment as well as a slingback design which offers a feminine touch as well as ankle support. We can practically hear the bells ringing as we’re writing this.
Manolo Blahnik suede mules
For an up-to-date take on the tried and tested Manolo formula, try out these suede mules. This chocolate pair riffs on a number of trends we’ve seen across the runways from suede and backless shoes to chunky buckle detailing. Indulge your inner office siren and pair with some pinstripe suit trousers or pair with a boxy shirt dress.
Manolo Blahnik Hangisi ballet flats
Embrace your feminine side with a pair of Manolo Hangisi ballet flats. Finished in navy satin, these pumps are the perfect off-duty shoes for the avid Manolo heel enthusiast — because sometimes your feet do in fact need a rest. Let the shoes do the leg work with some straight leg jeans and an oversized knit, for days that won’t allow for a stiletto.
Manolo Blahnik Carolyne pumps
Take notes from Riviera glamour with these Manolo Blahnik Carolyne pumps. Raffia tips are woven with metallic thread to retain that classic Manolo feel while its neutral colorway lends itself to sun-drenched scenes and beach club invitations. Made famous by Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, the shoe has been penned by Mr Blahnik as the ‘eternal shoe’ because of its enduring style.
How do Manolo Blahnik shoes fit?
We spoke to five Manolo lovers to get the lowdown on just how the famous shoes fit.
Beauty influencer, Amelia Liana, confirms that they do ‘fit true to size’, however, she explains, ‘I do have a narrow foot though, so I would recommend sizing up half a size if you’re not 100% certain.’
Caroline Vazzana, influencer and fashion stylist, agrees, ‘I wear a women’s size 8 US but when it comes to Manolo Blahnik shoes, I wear a size 39 across the board in all Manolo shapes and styles.’
However it’s important to note, according to stylist Claire Chanelle, that certain styles fit differently: ‘I think all Manolos run true to size. I always buy mine true to size. However, I do like to size up by half a size for my Maysale mules or Lurums. I would also say that the brand runs slightly narrow, bear this in mind.’
Additionally, Ashley Kane Harper advises to choose carefully if you have wide feet, ‘I have wider feet, and since the styles I own are a little more narrow, I’ve had to go up half a size.’
She continues, ‘I think it’s important to try a couple of pairs to establish which size best fits you.’
Are Manolo Blahnik shoes comfortable?
The verdict is in — overwhelmingly, those we asked agree that Manolo shoes are comfortable.
Amelia Liana says, ‘As far as high heels go, I think the Lurum satin mules are really comfortable. I find that the front strap helps my foot feel more secure, which means I can easily wear them for a night standing or dancing without pain, as long as I’m taking a taxi home.’
According to Caroline Vazzana, ‘They bend to your foot as you wear them, making them a go-to for a long day or night out.’
Melissa Soldera loves the Maysale shoe, ‘I want to wear heels but I can’t deal with having sore feet. They look like they’d pinch but they’re actually totally comfortable, which I feel is always the goal with shoes — look good without the pain.’
Claire Chanelle highlights how, despite nerve damage, she can still wear Manolos: ‘I can still walk in the higher 105mm, it’s one of very few brands where I can wear a heel this height as I have nerve damage in my right foot. I really love the 70mm heel. From the front, you cannot see the difference but I have the extra comfort, I can wear them all day.’
How to style Manolo Blahnik shoes
We asked senior merchandiser Charlotte Berry for her thoughts on styling the famous shoe.
Charlotte says, ‘There’s a Manolo Blahnik shoe for every occasion. The classic Hangisi is the perfect choice for elegant occasionwear, effortlessly elevating an evening gown or cocktail dress. Its signature jewel embellishment adds a striking statement to any outfit.’
Manolo shoes are versatile, she continues, ‘For a more relaxed daytime look, the Maysale mules are great paired with simple jeans or tailored trousers and a T-shirt.’
