White Bird boutique holds sustainability as one of its main pillars, selecting only the finest ethical jewellery brands for its three fine jewellery stores in Paris. ‘Since day 1, we have chosen designers who have the same concerns as we do,’ says founder and president Stephanie Roger, who emphasises the importance of materials, company structure and manufacturing processes.
White Bird’s conscious highlights for this season include necklaces from Pippa Small — ‘a classic that [the designer] makes in different colours, with carefully selected stones to ensure harmony’ — a Wwake opal ring, and a Polly Wales diamond and sapphire ring. ‘Wwake has recently changed its way of designing jewels in order to be in line with a very rigorous ethical sourcing process involving miners themselves,’ notes Roger. ‘For our own in-house brand White Bird, we have decided to work with a small workshop in Thailand managed by a French man who is very concerned by the working conditions and professional fulfilment of his team. We use local gold because Thailand has banned the use of chemicals in the extraction of gold.’

Where to buy minimal jewellery: Marissa Collections, US

Where to buy pearls: Uzerai, Poland
Housed in the Metropolitan building, designed by Sir Norman Foster, and surrounded by the deep history of Warsaw, Uzerai boutique is a fitting destination for exquisite pearl jewellery designs. ‘Our clients tend to look for unique, one-of-a-kind pieces, which irregular baroque pearls answer to,’ explains Uzerai’s founder Piotr Walasek. ‘When it comes to pearls, Mizuki Goltz and her eponymous brand need no introduction.
