farfetch.com x Meadham Kirchoff
So you may have noticed that farfetch is looking extra jazzy right now, specifically because of the vibrant and colourful print we have splashed everywhere there is space for it. Designed especially for us by theatrical and fashion-forward design duo Meadham Kirchhoff, this print is one of our exclusive Christmas gift-wrap designs, and will be taking over the site this week.
Meadham Kirchhoff’s wrapping paper is reflective of the pair’s off-beat and eccentric catwalk collections, full of rich colours, lavish details and unusual references. In fact, French-born Benjamin Kirchhoff and Brit Edward Meadham are renowned for having one of the most eye-catching runways on the schedule, awash with outfits that fuse twisted fairy-tale influences with cheeky nods to pop culture, exotic materials and a rainbow spectrum of colours.
Since launching their line in 2002 (switching their speciality from menswear to womenswear in 2006) the pair have dazzled critics with their creative approach to presentations and wholly individual sense of style. So naturally when they agreed to work on some special gift-wrap for our festive celebrations we sent a camera crew down to their studio to capture two fashion mavericks at work. Here’s our behind-the-scenes video….
This Meadham Kirchhoff print is just one of our four special scan-able gift-wraps by upcoming artists that are available with every farfetch.com order from now until until 19th December. Each piece is embedded with special scanning technology, which when used with the Aurasma application will allow you to watch exclusive behind-the-scenes films with each of the creatives before anyone else.
And if you’re in London next week you may even see one of the city’s taxis emblazoned with the print, we’ve wrapped two cabs in Meadham Kirchhoff’s creation, with the lucky passengers who hail them in line for fairy-cakes and the chance to win designer prizes from farfetch.com. You can also photograph and tag the cab #farfetchparcel to win free shipping.
And just because it would seem a waste to enlist two people of such great fashion taste and not mine them for style advice, we also got the pair to recommend six farfetch items that they would want to unwrap this Christmas. See their picks here and click to shop.
