The new way to wear pearls
Pearls have gotten playful, offering unconventional and unexpected ways to wear them this season. In short: they’re not so stuffy anymore. Here, get to know the new ways to wear pearls and the jewellery designers reimagining them for today.

Anissa Kermiche, Mateo and Delfina Delettrez are offsetting the softness of pearls with strong geometric lines, or balancing pearls in varying sizes with delicate and distinctive gold creations. These jewellers, along with designers like Zoe Chicco, are championing the shift in thinking around classic pearl earrings, too: setting pearls in unique shapes, designing them to adorn the ear in unexpected ways and embracing a mix-and-match approach to styling. Take Sophie Bille Brahe’s Akoya-pearl designs – they’re fun, sculptural and designed with a sense of movement.

When it comes to styling, more is most definitely more. It’s no longer about wearing one pearl necklace, or a small pair of matching pearl studs. It’s a mineral that goes with everything so well. Adding a pop of pearl along the ear, neck or on the hand doesn’t overpower other jewellery. One of the most versatile pieces for layering – think of pearls as the best neutral to finish an outfit and enhance your look.
