It’s 2018 and we’re all addicted to something. For many of us, thankfully, it’s nothing more illicit than copping trainers. Ahhhh, the unmatchable feeling of unboxing a brand-new pair of kicks excites the senses like no other (apologies to every girl I’ve ever dated).
So here at Farfetch, we’ll be discussing our sneak of the week, every week, to satisfy me and all the other self-confessed sneakerheads out there. We’ll be asking and answering the questions you want to know and those you didn’t realise you wanted to know. And what other way to launch sneaker of the week than with one of the biggest (in more ways than one) sneakers in the world right now, the Versace Chain Reaction Sneaker?
1. Could you wear these on a date?
YES. Extra height isn’t something to be sniffed at (trust me, I’m only 5’9), and this is a subtle way of gaining a couple of inches without going for the full-on Simon Cowell look in a pair of Cuban heels. A literal confident boost.
And when it comes to sneakers, there's also a pleasing sense of ‘if you know, you know’.
2. Could you wear them into the office?
It depends. If you work in a creative field, you and your white-hot crepes will be the talk of the office in the best way possible.
If you work in a more practical environment - like a legal office, or a doctor’s - such a statement-making pair might raise some eyebrows. Unless you work in a cosmetic surgeon’s office, of course.
3. Would I wear them to a festival this weekend?
Although the boost in height might offer a better glimpse of DJ Khaled and his undisclosed guests, we’re saying no. They may appear wipeable, but if someone treads on them, you’ll be sulking all the way through the weekend.
