‘Live At The 1971 American College Jazz Festival’ by Southern University Jazz Ensemble/ Alvin Batiste Vinyl. One of the most righteous school band records ever. More than just a bunch of students doing big band numbers, but a killer batch of spiritual jazz numbers. Directed by the legendary Alvin Batiste with plenty of great younger players including Henry Butler on piano, Henry Scott on flute, Reginald Houston on baritone, Raymond Deggs on trumpet and Herman Jackson on drums.
