    Junya Watanabe is the protege of Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakubo. Beginning at Comme des Garçons as an apprentice pattern-maker, he eventually went on to design his own line, Junya Watanabe Comme Des Garçons in 1993 and began showing in Paris that same year. His designs are both highly distinctive and technologically innovative. The label is well known for the use of finely-tuned shapes and tailoring as well as for deconstructing classic designs and juxtaposition of materials.
