Pierre Balmain founded his Parisian fashion powerhouse in 1945, and dressed such style icons as Ava Gardner and Brigitte Bardot. After his death in 1982, a slew of designers including Oscar de la Renta took the helm, and the brand is now considered the cool girl's destination for ornately embellished outerwear, spray-on leather pants and directional tough-luxe dresses.
