Japanese brand Autocouture was launched in 2011. The name is derived from the combination of "haute couture" and "ready to wear” making "auto couture". The label is created by a designer collective that calls itself TEAM CLOTHES LOVERS. "Auto Couture's concept is traditional Japanese tailoring from the 1980s to the 1990s," explains the team of Japanese creators, adding, "The key is to present this theme in a very modern way. We create our collection from the fabrics, which means that we let the fabrics play with one another to develop their forms."
