    Thanks to Herbert Hofmann, the creative director of VOO store, Berlin’s Kreuzberg district is now an up-and-coming hot spot for fashion, art and design. Away from the city’s usual shopping destinations, VOO occupies a space of 300 m2 on the premises of a former locksmith shop. Offering designer brands with an emphasis on design, creativity and quality craftsmanship, VOO is not only a store, it’s a cafe-bar and gathering point for customers who meet and share creative ideas and admire the surroundings.     During the ‘60s, when teenage rebellion ran rampant, one boot emerged an icon. It was then German-based scientist Dr. Klaus Maertens created a shoe sole made mostly of air and through chance meeting was able to bring his invention to England. Here, he partnered up with the Griggs family to manufacture boots that became popular with both factory workers and London’s youth in revolt. Today, boots from Dr. Martens remain an iconic symbol of anticonformity and anti-fashion fashion.
