Diego Dolcini, the Naples-born, Bologna-based Italian shoe designer known for eye-catching, sophisticated and downright sexy heels – gracing the feet of celebrities from Madonna and Nicole Kidman to Jennifer Lopez and Monica Bellucci, is a name familiar to all the shoe-obsessed among us. Collaborating with Bruno Magli and Emilio Pucci, and formerly acting as Creative Director for men's and women's shoes at Gucci, Diego Dolcini designs for his own Dolcini line, while currently collaborating on shoes for Dolce & Gabbana.
Parisian shoe and accessory boutique Mell, which sits on Rue Royale, just off the city’s Place de la Concorde, is the creation of Philippe Melloul. For women with a weakness for high-end designer footwear, the store is like a little oasis, filled with tempting treats from the likes of Lanvin and Alexander McQueen. But what Melloul does best is mix in with these well-known names, a good selection of emerging design talent such as Behnaz Kanani and Berny Demore. And as if providing the perfect pair of shoes weren’t enough, Mell also makes a good effort to give you perfect feet to put in them – at the back of the store is a luxurious little salon dedicated to pedicures and foot beautification.
