G.H. Bass & Co. began in the 1870's when founder Henry Bass, a tannery owner, embarked on a career in shoe making. Over the decades, Bass designed shoes for explorers and soldiers based on practicality, developing a cold weather boot for the US army during World War II. Bass has developed, expanded and grown but its policies of good quality leather and thorough workmanship remain the same today, encapsulating the essence of casual and purpose built quality shoes.
