Wooyoungmi style influences were acquired at an early age growing up in post war South Korea during political unrest, but fortunately she found creativity close to home. Her father, the head of an architectural firm provided a creative environment in the home. After graduating from Sung-kyun-kwan University in 1988 Woo Youngmi launched her menswear brand, starting out with a small boutique in Seoul and becoming the first menswear female designer in Korea. Wooyoungmi's style is dedicated to the "contemporary man", who appreciates the tradition of high quality tailoring, but also the new value of delicacy, in his clothes.
