Cult sunglasses label RetroSuperFuture
, or SUPER as all the cool kids are calling them these days are hitting the road with new project SUPER Moves To, the basic premise of which is that the brand takes their eye-wear
on a worldwide tour and shows them off in various carefully selected retail spaces. And whilst the whole collection will be travelling to all the different places, there will also be bonus pieces inspired by and designed exclusively for several of the hosting shops.
And the first stop happens to be farfetch.com’s very own WOK
boutique, which makes perfect sense since the independent Milan store has always been committed to promoting the most quirky and directional of labels.
SUPER will be in residence at the Italian boutique until 30th July, but what we’re really excited about is the exclusive pair of shades that the sunglasses
label and WOK have created in celebration of the union. Dubbed the Ndebele Special
, the glasses take their name from ‘a truly inspirational tribe from southern Africa’ with the two collaborators explaining ‘The Ndebele culture has inspired a whole new world- and we’re trying to bring out the colours and culture of these people through the sunglasses, with the special print deriving from Ndebele murals: large, bright geometric patterns that women paint on their houses.’
The glasses are characterized by a double-sided printing on metallized acetate, have custom engravings and aubergine Zeiss lenses, and are hand-made, although that should go without saying. And there are only 120 of them, so sunglasses fanatics need to get in there quick!
